Our R&D Partnerships

KEY ACADEMIC COLLABORATIONS

LIENSs Laboratory – La Rochelle University: research on coastal bioresources, nutrition-health and dermocosmetic patents; tripartite agreement with ADERA.

ALG4RÉ (2022–2024) – a dedicated LIENSs-CNRS/ADERA program focused on the seaweeds of the Île de Ré
   • Objectives: Characterize 6 species, establish a gametophyte bank, and test a low-carbon IMTA (Integrated Multi-Trophic Aquaculture) system
   • Algorythme’s role: site access, field logistics, and transfer of results to nutrition & cosmetic sectors
   • Partners: LIENSs, CEVA, EU-CONEXUS

CNRS PARTNERSHIP

Comparative research program on the nutritional value of Île de Ré seaweeds versus broader Atlantic biodiversity; validation of protein and fiber potential

EVALG – REGULATORY MONITORING

• Active member of the EVALG network, interpreting EU standards on heavy metals and novel foods; we distribute compliance bulletins to our clients

Project with the French Biodiversity Office / Marine Nature Park: co-developing scientific protocols to monitor the ecological status and stock of shoreline seaweeds
   • Pilot sites: Île de Ré, with test plots in Loix and Ars-en-Ré to calibrate harvesting pressure indicators
   • Tracked biomass: ≈ 7 tonnes of fresh algae/year harvested by professionals (2016–2023), reported using the new 500 m grid
   • Protocol design (technical, spatial, temporal) provides the authorities with the sustainability evidence required for annual licenses and contributes to the upcoming best practices guide

CEVA SUPPORT

Since 2016, CEVA (Centre for the Study and Valorization of Algae) has supported our cultivation protocols (“AlgenRé” and “WakaRé”) and provided technical transfer for low-impact processing methods.

The founders also continue to train regularly with CEVA, attending workshops and hands-on sessions to stay at the forefront of harvesting and extraction techniques.

PARTNERSHIP WITH PROD’HYG

Algorythme has partnered for several years with Prod’Hyg Laboratory (75 years of expertise, COSMOS-certified) to transform its premium Île de Ré seaweeds into custom cosmetic ingredients. The green extraction process ensures full traceability, high active compound content, and compliance with the most stringent international standards.

THESES & PUBLICATIONS

Participation in a PhD thesis (C. Mazière, 2022) and co-authorship of Microbiological Research 252 (2021) on microbial biodiversity in the Ré salt marshes

PUBLIC FUNDING

France Relance – Selected for lab expansion (2022–2024)
Région Nouvelle-Aquitaine – Co-funding for aquaculture and R&D equipment
BPI France – Innovation grant under FEAMP (currently under review)

RESPONSIBILITY & IMPACT

Our low-tech approach, combined with integrated multi-trophic aquaculture (IMTA), is designed to reduce eutrophication and foster circular ecosystems.

YOUR ADVANTAGE
